I never really used databases before. I may have consulted a few in my college days, but I can't remember anything specific. Like I stated in discussion, I would definitely use the databases for research projects. Since I am not at a school, my exposure is limited to this class. I liked the Gale databases. It looks like they follow similar formats. I like that the feel and layout is similar to a website. I think what I like best about databases is that they are specialized and not so broad like the web. I think that can make the task feel less overwhelming. For example, if I am researching a person, using Gales Biography in Context would work well because I know my results are just about that person from reliable, verified sources and I'm not going to have to sift through a lot of junk.
We used Smore to create our poster for this mod. I was actually a little surprised that I couldn't do more on it. It especially irked me that I couldn't resize the image boxes. I think if they fixed that one thing, Smore would be a more user-friendly tool. I'd want to look into other resources for future posters. Although, from what I've seen thus far, they all have their limitations.
